Ecological Restoration Crews

Over the last twenty years, I have had the privilege of partnering with conservation organizations such as the New Mexico Youth Conservation Corps and the Hermit’s Peak Watershed Alliance, bringing my background in restoration ecology into my work as an educator. Working alongside young people to help heal and steward landscapes - building earthworks, restoring riparian vegetation, and responding to the historic Hermit's Peak / Calf Canyon Fire - has been a continual source of joy. These projects offer students the opportunity to engage directly with living systems, developing practical skills, ecological understanding, and a lasting sense of responsibility to the places they inhabit.
